Privacy Policy

South East Precision Sharpening is a mobile sharpening service run by Barnie across Sussex. I decide how the personal information described here is used, so I'm responsible for it under UK data protection law.

Enquiries. When you send the form on the contact page, I receive your name, email address and message, plus your phone number, address and preferred date if you give them. I use these to reply, arrange a visit and do the work. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before we agree a job, and then carrying it out.

Emails, calls and messages. If you email, phone, or message me on WhatsApp or Facebook, I keep what you send so I can reply and keep a record of the work, for the same reasons.

Customer records. I keep a simple record of who I've worked for and what I did, because it's in my legitimate interest to run the business and answer questions about past work, and because the law requires some records for tax.

Email updates. I send occasional emails only to people who have agreed to receive them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask me to take you off the list at any time.

I don't sell your information, and I don't use it for anything other than the reasons above.

I use a few companies to run the website and my email. They handle your information on my behalf:

• Wix hosts this website and stores enquiries, contacts and my messages with customers.
• Google provides my business email (info@sepsharp.co.uk) and the fonts used on this site.

WhatsApp and Facebook are run by Meta. If you contact me through them, Meta's own privacy policy applies to how they handle your messages.

Some of these companies store information outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires for international transfers.

I keep enquiries and customer records for as long as I need them to deal with your request, any later visits and any questions about the work, and then for up to 6 years after our last contact, to meet tax record-keeping rules. If an enquiry doesn't lead to any work, I delete it sooner.

If you unsubscribe from email updates, I stop sending them straight away.

The website only uses cookies it needs to work and stay secure, such as protecting the enquiry form from abuse. It doesn't use cookies for analytics or advertising, so there's nothing to accept or decline.

When a page loads, your browser fetches the site's fonts from Google, which means Google sees your IP address.

You have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
• ask me to correct it if it's wrong
• ask me to delete it
• object to me using it, or ask me to limit how I use it
• withdraw consent you've given, such as for email updates
• ask for your information in a form you can take elsewhere

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first and I'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

If I change how I use your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
